Active threats are an unfortunate reality in today’s schools. While it is difficult to stop an active threat, school administrators can do their part to prevent the unnecessary loss of student, teacher and employee life. All schools must develop, practice and follow their own crisis management plan to prepare for hazardous situations, including active threats.

Active Threat Planning

While an active threat situation can never be predicted, school administrators can always do their best to prepare for them. A solid plan that is practiced regularly and followed during an emergency helps staff prepare, react effectively and protect students during an emergency.
